SunLink Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Sunlink Platform Holdings, INC ("SunLink," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects information obtained from users ("you" or "User") through the SunLink website, mobile interfaces, modeling systems, customer portal, and all related features (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, creating an account, or initiating a solar project using the SunLink Project Initiation Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and that you consent to the practices described herein. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, you must discontinue use of the Platform.
SunLink may revise this Privacy Policy at any time. Any updates will be posted on the Platform with a revised "Date of Last Revision." Continued use of the Platform after the revised policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
I. Definitions
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
• "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked to a particular individual or household.
• "Project Information" means information you provide about your property, utility usage, electric bill, solar preferences, and project goals.
• "Usage Data" means information automatically collected about your interactions with the Platform.
• "Installer" means an independent third-party solar contractor to whom your information is routed at your direction.
• "Consumer-Directed Sharing" refers to the transfer of information initiated by the User and performed at the User's request.
• "Service Provider Transfer" refers to disclosure of information to Installers solely to perform services requested by the User.
• "SunLink Project Initiation Services" refers to the process by which a User begins a solar project after paying the required deposit.
II. Information We Collect
SunLink collects information you provide directly, information the Platform automatically generates, and information from third-party integrations used to support solar modeling. When you create an account, you provide Personal Information including your name, service address, email address, phone number, utility provider, and average monthly electric bill. When you submit Project Information, you provide details about your home, roof, utility costs, energy consumption, and preferences relating to solar energy systems.
In addition to information you provide, the Platform automatically collects Usage Data, which may include IP address, device identifiers, operating system information, browser type, referral URLs, session duration, performance metrics, and analytics data associated with your interactions with the Platform. The Platform also uses cookies and similar technologies to facilitate authentication, improve performance, track usage patterns, enhance security, and measure engagement.
SunLink also receives information from third-party service providers whose data is essential for generating solar recommendations. These providers include aerial-imagery and computer-vision vendors that support roof segmentation and shading analysis; utility-rate databases such as Arcadia or Genability that support accurate energy-cost modeling; weather, irradiance, and climate datasets used to estimate solar production; and the PVWatts engine maintained by NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory).
III. How We Use Information
SunLink uses Personal Information and Project Information to provide modeling, estimates, software functions, and project-routing services. The information you provide allows the Platform to create an account, authenticate your identity, populate your customer dashboard, generate solar production estimates, calculate bill-savings projections, and refine the underlying models for accuracy. Your information is also used to route your project to an Installer when you direct SunLink to do so, to facilitate communications between you and the Installer, and to provide project updates or required disclosures.
Information is used to improve the Platform's performance, to enhance system accuracy, and to diagnose technical problems or maintain security. SunLink may use your contact information to communicate with you regarding project timelines, Platform updates, post-install support, new features, financing options, and system-upgrade opportunities. SunLink may also use anonymized and aggregated information to analyze usage trends, improve modeling systems, and support product development. All such anonymized or aggregated data contains no Personal Information.
IV. How We Share Information
SunLink shares information only in ways permitted by privacy law and only as necessary to fulfill your requests. SunLink does not sell Personal Information. SunLink does not disclose Personal Information to Installers or third parties in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration unrelated to the services you request.
SunLink does not sell personal information. Any transfer of information to an installer occurs solely to fulfill the user's request for a solar proposal or installation service. By creating an account, the user is requesting that SunLink connect them with an installer. The sharing of information with an installer is made at the direction of the user.
Installers receive user information only for the purpose of performing services requested by the user. Installer fees are for platform access, software usage, and marketplace participation — not for the purchase of consumer data.
Beyond these disclosures, SunLink shares information with service providers that assist in Platform operation, including payment processors such as Stripe, cloud-hosting providers, analytics providers, and security vendors. These entities process information solely on SunLink's behalf and are prohibited from using Personal Information for their own purposes.
SunLink may also disclose information when required to comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, protect users, investigate fraud, ensure the integrity of the Platform, or defend SunLink's legal rights.
V. User Direction to Share Information with Installers
When you create an account, upload Project Information, and initiate a project, you direct SunLink to transmit your Personal Information and Project Information to an Installer so that the Installer may prepare a proposal and, if you choose, perform installation services. This transfer occurs solely because you request it. Installers receive information only as necessary to perform the services you direct. Installers operate independently from SunLink, and their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
VI. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies
SunLink uses cookies and related technologies to authenticate users, maintain sessions, prevent fraud, personalize user experiences, measure performance, and analyze Platform usage. Cookies may store preferences, enable faster log-ins, and support accurate solar modeling by maintaining continuity of data. SunLink may also use analytics tools that provide aggregated information about user behavior, which helps us optimize the Platform. You may disable cookies in your browser, but doing so may impair the Platform's functionality.
VII. User Rights Under Privacy Laws
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights relating to Personal Information, including the right to access specific pieces of information collected about you, the right to request deletion of Personal Information, the right to request correction of inaccurate information, the right to opt out of targeted advertising, the right to limit the use of certain types of sensitive information, and the right to receive information about how SunLink collects and uses Personal Information. You also have the right to be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights. Requests may be submitted to legal@sunlink.solar and SunLink will respond in accordance with applicable law.
SunLink does not sell Personal Information and does not share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising. For this reason, opt-out mechanisms relating to "sales" or "sharing" under state privacy laws are not required.
VIII. How We Protect Information
SunLink implements commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, destruction, or misuse. These safeguards include encryption, secure data-hosting environments, role-based access controls, monitoring systems, network protections, and periodic security reviews. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure, and SunLink cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or breaches will never occur. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials and for promptly reporting any suspected unauthorized activity.
IX. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for individuals under eighteen years of age. SunLink does not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under eighteen. If we discover that a minor has provided Personal Information without appropriate authorization, we will delete such information promptly.
X. Data Retention and Anonymized Information
SunLink retains Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform's services, satisfy legal obligations, maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements. The retention period may depend on the nature of the data and the purposes for which it was collected. SunLink may retain anonymized or aggregated information indefinitely for research, analytics, and product-development purposes. Anonymized data contains no Personal Information and cannot be used to identify an individual.
XI. Third-Party Links and External Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party services, including Installers' websites, lender interfaces such as GoodLeap, and external tools used in the modeling process. SunLink is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party sites. You should review the privacy policies of any external services before providing Personal Information to them.
XII. International Users
The Platform is intended for use within the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States, which may not provide the same level of data protection as the laws of your jurisdiction.
XIII. Changes to This Privacy Policy
SunLink may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be posted on the Platform with the updated effective date. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If material changes are made, SunLink may notify Users through email or prominent notice on the Platform.
